Course Description
Students taking this course will be required to take the State Dual Credit Examination at the end of the semester. This course will follow the curriculum in place for the State of Tennessee Dual Credit Exam. Sociology provides the student with an overview of the functions of the institutions of family, education, government, economy, and religion as a part of society. Among topics discussed are history of sociology, research methods and socialization, groups, gender, social theories, social stratification, culture, and social problems such as, poverty, crime, overpopulation, prejudice and discrimination, drug abuse, and divorce. The Dual Credit exam is required at completion of this course. The Dual Credit Exam results will be included as part of your permanent transcript.
